Learning Outcomes

Understand the principles and importance of giving and receiving feedback
Recognize that communication includes non-verbal cues such as body language, which can carry unintentional messages
Recognize the risk for conflict, misunderstanding, stress, production and safety issues through inadequate or ineffective communication
Understand that communication is an important skill that can be improved using strategies such as the Five-Step Communication Method
Learn the importance of effective communication in the workplace
Understand the communication model
Recognize barriers to good communication
Learn the importance of using active listening to increase effective communication

Assessment

This is a self-paced module with several checkpoints for formative assessment. It concludes with a final knowledge check. Responses are automatically assessed. Multiple attempts are permitted.
