Program Outcomes

Following the successful completion of this program, the learner will be able to:

  • describe basic electrical principles including electrical circuits, electrical motor components, and procedures for testing, diagnosing, and repairing
  • apply safety protocols for hybrid and electric vehicle (EV) systems
  • identify components and operating principles of hybrid and electric vehicle (EV) systems including key maintenance procedures, diagnostic methods, and component repair processes
  • diagnose and service high voltage batteries safely
  • describe operating principles of hybrid and electric vehicle support systems

Forms of Assessment and Evidence

5 Exercises for each microcredential module, weighted at 40% of the final grade on the following topics:

  • Electrical System Review (7% of Exercises grade)
  • Introduction to Hybrid and Electric Vehicles (13% of Exercises grade)
  • Hybrid and Electric Vehicle Systems I (40% of Exercises grade)
  • High Voltage Batteries (23% of Exercises grade)
  • Hybrid and Electric Vehicle Support Systems (17% of Exercises grade)

1 Final Summative Exam, weighted at 60% of the final grade on the following topics:

  • Electrical System Review (7% of Exam grade)
  • Introduction to Hybrid and Electric Vehicles (13% of Exam grade)
  • Hybrid and Electric Vehicle Systems I (40% of Exam grade)
  • High Voltage Batteries (23% of Exam grade)
  • Hybrid and Electric Vehicle Support Systems (17% of Exam grade)

Assessment Criteria

This microcredential is earned after demonstrating the ability to describe fundamental processes for servicing hybrid and electric vehicles through the authentic assessment of the Electric Vehicle: Automotive Service Technician module(s) by:

  • receiving a passing grade (60% or above) on the final grade of the Electric Vehicle: Automotive Service Technician microcredential.
