This course is designed to focus knowledge and skills of Registered Nurses (RNs) and Registered Practical Nurses (RPNs) in foot care. It includes assessment, patient teaching, and non-invasive foot care techniques, such as reducing normal nails. Additionally, the course emphasizes the assessment and nursing care of high-risk feet, discussing pathological conditions and infection control. Techniques like padding and strapping are practiced. Moreover, participants have the opportunity to observe and implement foot care within their scope of practice in a residential setting, further enhancing their practical skills and benefiting clients directly.

Criteria

To successfully earn the Applied Footcare Management badge, students must apply specialized foot care knowledge to deliver safe interventions within their scope. They will continuously update their understanding of foot care practices, using critical thinking to make informed decisions. Integrating evidence-based nursing while ensuring effective care. Students will employ principles of health education and ensure clear communication with clients by meeting their diverse learning needs. Prerequisites: NRSGHZPAE, NRSG10059, HLTH10223 and CLIN10058.
