Criteria

Learning Objectives/Outcomes

  1. Improve the participant experience by applying adult learning principles
  2. Strengthen in-room presence and be more engaging for participants
  3. Increase engagement by giving clear instructions and leading effective discussions
  4. Build confidence and skill delivering content and leading interaction

Course Content

  1. Adult Learning Principles

    • building on the work of Malcolm Knowles
  2. Own the Content

    • Mindset: Instructor to Facilitator
    • Preparation and credibility, leading when you're not the SME
  3. Manage the Room

    • Executive presence, the concept of "Ba"
    • Managing group dynamics and energy
    • Handling awkward behaviours and situations
  4. Animate the Experience

    • Engaging delivery with colourful voice and purposeful gestures
    • Giving clear instructions to lead activities
    • Leading effective and productive debriefs and discussions

Learning Activities

Eight hours of traditional or virtual classroom learning supported by expert Shift Coaches. In-session activities include:

  • Text and multimedia presentations
  • Interactive drills and assignments that test for knowledge and skill
  • Breakout sessions
  • Coaching and feedback from Shift Coaches
  • Peer feedback
  • Development action planning

Notional Learning Hours

Total of 8 hours (in-session)

Assessment

This is a Participation-Based Certificate.
