The Canadian Association of Medical Radiation Technologists (CAMRT) is Canada’s certifying body and professional association for medical radiation technologists and therapists (MRTs). CAMRT represents four disciplines: radiological technology, nuclear medicine, magnetic resonance and radiation therapy.

L'Association canadienne des technologues en radiation médicale (ACTRM) est l'organisme d'agrément et l'association professionnelle des technologues et thérapeutes en radiation médicale (TRM) au Canada. L'ACTRM représente quatre disciplines : la technologie de radiologie, la médecine nucléaire, la résonance magnétique et la radiothérapie.

Criteria

CTIC Criteria

The CAMRT Certificate in CT Imaging is available to:

  • Medical Radiation Technologists who have been certified by the CAMRT in the practice of radiological technology or nuclear medicine
  • Internationally educated medical radiation technologists (IEMRTs) in the specialty of radiological technology or nuclear medicine who are graduates of medical radiation technology programs

The CTIC program has both didactic and clinical components.

Didactic Learning

  1. Successful completion of CAMRT’s CT Imaging 1 course, with a minimum exam mark of 75%.
  2. Successful completion of CAMRT’s CT Anatomy exam, with a minimum exam mark of 75%. Or Sectional Anatomy 1 course, with a minimum exam mark of 75% and Sectional Anatomy 2 course, with a minimum exam mark of 75%.
  3. Successful completion of CAMRT’s CT Imaging 2 course, with a minimum exam mark of 75%.
  4. Successful completion of CAMRT’s CT Imaging 3 course, with a minimum exam mark of 75%.
  5. Successful completion of one of the following Quick Self Studies, with a minimum quiz mark of 75%.

    Stroke and CT Perfusion

Clinical Experience

  1. Practice for at least 16 weeks (80 full time shifts) in an 18-month block and;
  2. Completion of a Summary of Clinical Competence under the direct supervision of an eligible Clinical Advisor. The SCC is a list of procedures and associated competencies that must be assessed by the clinical advisor.

After review of all components – didactic and clinical - by the CTIC Committee, the Certificate in CT Imaging is granted to the technologist. The designation granted is CTIC.
