This digital certificate certifies that the participant has successfully completed the online course Yukon First Nations 101. The course introduces the concepts of culture and cultural competency leading into the history of pre-contact life of the original inhabitants of the lands now known as the Yukon. Participants learn about the impacts of colonization and development on Yukon's First Nations, as well as cultural values and protocols for respectful interactions with First Nation individuals and communities today.

This is a Participant-Based Certificate representing the following learning objectives.
Learning Objectives/Outcomes
- Explain the concept of culture and define terms and actions related to cultural competency.
- Identify the 8 language groups and 14 traditional territories occupied by Yukon First Nations.
- Describe the pre-contact life of the original inhabitants of the lands now known as the Yukon.
- Understand how the arrival of Europeans and the subsequent exploration and colonization of their lands by non-aboriginal people impacted Yukon First Nations.
- Recognize cultural values that are, to some extent, shared among Yukon's First Nations, and the protocols that should be incorporated into interactions with First Nation individuals and communities in order to demonstrate respect for those values.

Self-paced e-learning featuring: - Text and multimedia presentations that introduce key concepts - Interactive checkpoints within the course to test for knowledge and understanding
Assessment
Each module concludes with a summative assessment of 10 questions. The requirement is a minimum of 80% for a passing grade.
