This is a primarily in-person, applied learning experience featuring:
- Hands-on finishing of energy-efficient tiny homes
- Guided instruction and demonstration by qualified professionals
- Real-world application of construction tools, materials, and finishing techniques
- Ongoing practice and skill development in a live construction environment
Assessment
Learners are assessed based on demonstrated competency through:
- Task-based evaluations using structured checklists
- Work record book completion and verification
- Direct observation of practical skill execution
- Demonstration of safe work practices and participation in safety activities
- Demonstration of finishing competencies across required skill areas
Assessment is conducted by qualified evaluators, including a licensed teacher and a Red Seal carpenter.
Completion Requirements
To earn this microcredential, learners must:
- Demonstrate competency across all required skill areas
- Achieve a minimum performance standard of 80% on assessed competencies
- Successfully complete all practical finishing components
- Meet performance standards as verified by program assessors
