This microcredential presents learners with sustainable building design and its relationship with society and the environment. Learners examine high performance building principles with a strong emphasis on energy efficiency and occupant well being. This microcredential provides learners with foundational knowledge of green building concepts. Emphasis is placed on sustainable strategies, global sustainability goals, emerging technologies, and the application of the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) rating system. Learners assess and apply design approaches that support environmentally responsible buildings. Upon successful completion of this microcredential, learners will be able to apply green building concepts to the design of environmentally responsible buildings. Assessment Criteria

This microcredential is earned after demonstrating the ability to apply green building concepts, including the LEED rating system, to the design of environmentally responsible buildings through the authentic assessment of the Green Building Principles module(s) by:

  • receiving a passing grade (60% or above) on the practical project.
