Learning outcomes

Participants will be able to:

  • Interpret and apply core provisions of CSA C22.3 No. 1 and No. 7 to overhead and underground electric supply and communication systems.
  • Verify safe distances/clearances and evaluate construction practices near hazards (e.g., crossings, vegetation, structures) to reduce risk.
  • Select and justify grounding, bonding, and protection methods that meet standard requirements for system safety and reliability. Assess and incorporate climate‑resilient measures (flooding/drought, icing/snow/hail, high winds, wildfires, permafrost) into design and maintenance plans.
  • Develop installation and maintenance practices aligned with regulatory compliance and CE Code Part III guidance.
  • Document compliance decisions and reference relevant clauses to support audits and emergency response readiness.
