The Ontario Centres for Learning, Research and Innovation in Long-Term Care (Ontario CLRI) enhance quality of care and living for residents across the province. Our Learning Division develops, delivers and evaluates educational resources and programs to train the current and future long-term care (LTC) workforce.
Upon successful completion of this course, learners earn a completion-based certificate and achieve the following learning outcomes:
Learning Outcomes:
Gain knowledge pertaining to age-related changes, dementia, and responsive behaviours and their impact on care.
Understand person-centric values and behaviours related to LTC practice.
Become familiar with tools and frameworks relating to compassionate communication with residents and families.
Develop role-specific skills when considering older adults (i.e., observation, prioritization, and action).

Self-paced e-learning certificate featuring:
Choose your own adventure story (meta-narrative of healer’s journey)
30 Simulacra (short skill building simulations)
5 Simulations (full cases)
10 eLearning Modules (vary: 5-30 minutes per module)
Plus one- or two-page resources, quizzes, mini-games, and other activities
Assessment: This is a completion-based certificate with no summative assessment. Learners must achieve a passing score of 80%-100% on each learning activity to successfully complete this course.
