This microcredential equips learners to install, operate, and maintain modern energy storage systems safely. Learners explore safe work practices for high-voltage environments, such as proper Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) use, Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS) procedures, fire protection measures, lockout/tagout (LOTO) protocols, and acid-exposure response. By applying relevant Canadian electrical codes, standards, and environmental regulations, learners use safe practices to work directly with energy storage systems. Learners develop core technical competencies, including calculating system capacity requirements, installing and removing batteries safely, and using diagnostic tools to assess performance and battery health. Through practical learning and system-level analysis, learners gain the foundational capabilities needed to work confidently and safely with energy storage installation. Assessment Criteria

This microcredential is earned after demonstrating the ability to install and maintain energy storage systems safely through the authentic assessment of the Energy Storage Fundamentals module(s) by:

  • receiving a passing grade (60% or above) on the battery capacity test
  • receiving a passing grade (60% or above) on the practical project
