The holder of this credential is deemed to meet the combination of education, training and/or experience as per the GC Qualification Standard alternative for the IT Occupational Group.

Outcome

Fully qualified for an entry-level IT position (GC IT01 or equivalent)

Work Integrated Learning Experience

A two-year structured program that combines on-the-job work experience (80%), and online training/professional development (20%).

Apprentices are partnered with a peer to facilitate job shadowing and supervised work, and they are assigned a mentor who provides experienced counsel and guidance over the course of the program.

  • Intro to Cloud Computing (5.5 hrs.)
  • Intro to Networking (12.5 hrs.)
  • Intro to Software Development (5 hrs.)
  • Business Practices (3.5 hrs.)
  • Advanced IT Infrastructure (32 hrs.)
  • Advanced IT Security (17.5 hrs.)
  • Advanced Cloud Computing (23 hrs.)
  • Advanced Networking Concepts (21 hrs.)
  • Advanced Programming Concepts (60 hrs.)
  • Advanced Microsoft Software Solutions and Cloud Concepts (215 hrs.)

Assessment

Observed during the job and successfully completed all required training outlined in the IT Training Content section above. Some Apprentices may be fast-tracked trough selected training content based on the recognition of prior learning assessment.

Estimated Effort

Approximately 2,900 hours of on-the-job learning and 500 hours of online training/professional development.
