Graduate Teaching Development Program: Level 2 - Advanced Teaching Practice
Level 2 - Advanced Teaching Practice in Higher Education Upon completion of Level 2, participants are able to: Design and develop a unique course outline based upon stated learning outcomes; Develop assessments that are aligned with course learning outcomes; Design and deliver effective and engaging lessons; Identify and apply blended and flexible learning strategies; Develop components of a Teaching Dossier; Engage in a learning community made up of peers from across the university.

Criteria

CILT 105 Learning and Teaching in Higher Education II, a 6-week (18-hour) course.

One of the following three options:

  • 15-24 hours of a Course Instructor Apprenticeship where, under the supervision of a faculty mentor, participants gain practical experience in course instruction, exclusive of duties normally carried out by a GA.

  • 15-24 hours of an Educational Developer Apprenticeship where, under the supervision of staff from the Centre for Excellence in Learning and Teaching, participants gain practical experience in the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning (SoTL) and in developing and facilitating a TA/GA workshop for Level 1 of the GTDP program.

  • A 24-hour Instructional Skills Workshop (ISW), an intensive, peer-based workshop that runs over three days.

A 750 word reflection on how Level 2 Outcomes have been achieved.
