The UVic Libraries Digital Scholarship Commons helps the UVic community pursue their passions and tell their research stories in engaging ways. We offer workshops and help with software, 3D printers, laser cutters, and more. The DSC provides a welcoming and inclusive space for the UVic community.

Criteria

Participants will be able to do the following by the end of this workshop:

  • Navigate around the Twine app, including, Archive and Import stories.
  • Know why “Archiving” stories is so important.
  • Be able to create a new story.
  • Be able to create new [[passages]] to a story.
  • Know basic markup tags and how to use them.
  • How to modify background formatting with CSS.
  • Be able to add images from other web servers.
  • Know where to find other projects and tutorials for learning how to use Twine.
  • Be able to add a random event in the text.
  • Be able to add links to YouTube videos. [HTML links]
  • Know how to upload their Twine story to a free Github website.
  • Be able to use variables to track reader selections throughout a story, role playing game, or interview.
