Problem Solving Using Data

Learning Outcomes:

• Ability to explain why a data-driven approach to problem-solving in manufacturing is important
• Ability to outline the general process for collecting data in a manufacturing facility including understanding the 5 steps for solving problems using data:
  • Defining the problem using data
  • Analyzing the problem using data
  • Analyzing data to identify root causes
  • Using data to evaluate and prioritize solutions
  • Using data to monitor progress
• Understand how to use several data-based methods and tools to analyze and solve problems in their workplace (e.g., Root Cause Analysis, 5 Whys, Fish Bone or Ishikawa Diagram, Priority Matrix).

Module Content:

• Text and multimedia presentations that introduce key concepts and apply them to the manufacturing workplace
• Videos and manufacturing examples to add depth and relevance

Assessment: This is a self-paced module that concludes with a final knowledge check. Responses are automatically assessed. Multiple attempts are permitted.
