Management Excellence Program (MExP)

The Sunnybrook Leadership Institute (SLI) offers a variety of programs, workshops and courses for personal and professional development in the areas of Leadership, Change Management, Self-Awareness and Communication. Our offerings support Sunnybrook's INVENT 2030 Strategic Direction of Thriving People and Teams, and embed education that facilitates the enabler of Social Responsibility and SLI's commitment to equity in education and organizational development.

Earning Criteria

• Time: 78 hours over a 13 week period.
• Participation & reflective exercises: Recipient developed knowledge, skills, strategies and behaviours of effective leadership through both theory and practical application, while engaging in a community of new leaders to exchange ideas, experiential knowledge, and best practices.
• Project or Presentation: A culminating leadership reflective journal and a collaborative leadership project focused on making a meaningful and lasting improvement in the management of operations at Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre.
  

Program Topics

• Strategic & Operational Leadership: Strategic planning, budgeting, procurement and operational processes, risk management and patient safety, data-informed decision making, emergency preparedness.
• Leadership & Team Effectiveness: Inclusive practices, emotional intelligence, respectful workplace culture, giving feedback, conflict management, team collaboration, change leadership.
• Talent & Performance Management: Performance management, HR functions, team development and employee engagement.
• Equity, Inclusion & Anti-Racism: EDI principles, unconscious bias, racism, Indigenous cultural safety.
