Criteria

Learner has attended 2 facilitated sessions, up to 16 hours, and has achieved 100% in all knowledge checks, and has successfully demonstrated Lockout Tagout procedure with little to no error and without requiring supervision

Course Content

  • What is Industry 4.0 and history
  • The use of sensor and sensor data
  • Human Machine Interface (HMI) - what is it and how to interpret and act on it
  • Intro to Lockout and Tagout and other safety considerations
  • Documentation of machine issues to share with other departments

Learning Outcomes

Understand Core Industry 4.0 Concepts

  • Explain how sensors, PLCs, networks, and data systems interact in a modern production environment.
  • Describe the role of IIoT (Industrial Internet of Things) in machine monitoring and predictive maintenance.
  • Recognize how digital twins, MES, and SCADA systems support production.

Read and Interpret Digital Production Data

  • Use machine dashboards to monitor throughput, downtime, scrap rates, and cycle times.
  • Identify trends or anomalies in machine performance data.

Work Safely Around Automated Systems

  • Apply lockout/tagout procedures in a simulated setting.
  • Discuss lockout/tagout procedures for equipment typically encountered in an manufacturing setting
  • Identify hazards related to sensors, actuators, and autonomous machine movement.
  • Identify general safety protocols for collaborative robots (cobots) and automated cells.

Communicate Effectively in a Digitally Integrated Workplace

  • Use digital work instructions, tablets, or operator dashboards.
  • Document machine issues using standardized digital reporting.
  • Effectively communicate with other stakeholders to support the resolving of issues identified with machine operation.
