GRADSkills: Building competency in conflict resolution, constructive dialogue and effective feedback
Participants have completed a series of 4 workshops (6 hours in total):
1. Navigating the student-supervisor working relationship: Strategies and skills
2. Conflict Resolution: Skills and Competencies
3. Solution-focused Dialogue
4. Giving and Receiving Feedback
Participants in this GRADSkills Workshop series gain skills in:
- Describing common challenges and concerns that may emerge in supervisory relationships;
- Creating and using empathy maps as a way of constructively navigating complex challenges involving multiple perspectives;
- Describing common conflict resolution styles, and reflecting upon your own style and approach to conflict;
- Integrating effective conflict resolution skills into a role playing exercise;
- Using practical solution-focused techniques to address common challenges;
- Identifying key hope-activating and goal-setting skills;
- Identifying and applying effective feedback strategies;
- Navigating difficult feedback conversations with supervisors and others in positions of power.
