Learner worked with a team to identify a problem or opportunity within their organization and used problem solving methodology and tools to execute a Workplace Performance Project. This project demonstrates that the learner has gained the knowledge, tools, and confidence to manage future improvement opportunities.  \n\n**Course Content **\n\n- Problem-solving including defining a problem or opportunity, root cause analysis, developing solutions using cost-benefit analysis, solution implementation and follow-up.\n- Continuous Improvement\n- Coaching\n- Effective Feedback \n- Team Building\n- Managing Difficult Situations and Conflict Resolution \n- Employee Engagement\n- Effective Leadership\n- Verbal and Visual Presentations\n- Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion in Manufacturing\n\n**Learning Outcomes**\n\n- Develop problem-solving skills \n- Build capacity for problem solving and conflict resolution\n- Equip supervisors and managers with the skills to managing effective teams\n- Strengthen interpersonal communication\n- Develop an understanding of the importance of leadership skills\n- Develop foundational skills in building team engagement \n- Increase public speaking and project management skills\n\n\n**Minimum requirements**\n\n- Completed and presented Workplace Performance Project\n- Actively participated in facilitated training sessions \n- Demonstrated understanding of course content during discussion-based learning\n- Completed any required self-directed e-learning components \n- Program facilitator has validated learner completion of all program criteria\n- Program facilitator has validated that the learner has demonstrated the ability to perform the skills outlined in the learning outcomes in an authentic workplace context\n\n\n\n**Estimated effort time**\n60 – 70 hours\n\n**About the MEC Program**\n\nThe Manufacturing Essentials Certification (MEC) Program is an initiative designed to build the skills and confidence of the manufacturing workforce using a Skills for Success framework, including key skills such as problem solving, innovation, collaboration, and communication.
