Understand effective writing of case notes and emails.\n\n\n### Learning Content\n\nFor case managers, writing is a primary means of communication. The learning content reviews critical aspects of effective writing, then focuses on specific case management tasks including case notes, emails and writing about barriers. The demonstration of competence requires the learner to pass two multiple-choice assessments, one evaluating knowledge of action planning and one evaluating core writing elements. Additionally, the learner must demonstrate skills in writing barrier descriptions through a written assignment.\n \n### Learning Experience, Activities\n\nLearners complete a series of self-paced courses and reflective activities including a self-assessment of their writing strengths and areas for improvement. Two 25-question multiple choice tests are embedded in the module and evaluate the learner's understanding of the material. The learner then completes a written assignment. \n\n\n### Assessment\n\nTwo 25-question multiple choice tests evaluate the learner's understanding of the material. An 80% must be achieved to pass each test and continue with the module. \n\nThe written assignment demonstrates the learner's understanding and practice of case management writing skills. The learner chooses 5 barriers identified in a case study and writes complete barrier descriptions, which include the following from the case study: \n\n- Additional relevant detail with regard to describing the barrier \n- An explanation as to how the barrier is impacting the client’s ability to find and keep work   \n- If applicable, what may help to eliminate or reduce the impact of the barrier to finding and keeping employment \n\nSpelling and grammar are also assessed.  \n\nA trained, experienced instructor reviews the assignment and provides written feedback.
